1. Purpose¶
This procedure is established to ensure that all products are properly identified during production, receiving, and delivery stages to prevent mixing, misuse, or misplacement, and to provide the basis for traceability when required.
2. Scope of Application¶
This procedure applies to product identification and, when necessary, traceability throughout the entire process — from raw materials to finished product delivery.
3. Responsibilities¶
- The raw material warehouse keeper is responsible for defining and implementing the method of raw material identification and for labeling all incoming materials.
- The production workshop is responsible for product identification and traceability during production, handling, storage, protection, and delivery.
- The production workshop is also responsible for defining the product inspection identification methods and implementing inspection labeling.
- All related personnel are responsible for maintaining the protection of status identification.
4. Control Procedure¶
4.1 Inspection Status Categories¶
- Pending inspection
- Passed inspection
- Failed inspection
4.2 Raw Material Identification¶
Upon arrival, raw materials are placed and recorded separately according to the supplier, storage location number, and date of receipt, with clear identification labels applied.
4.3 Finished Product Identification¶
Finished products are identified by batch numbers.
4.4 Inspection Status Identification¶
Inspection status may be indicated using tags and records.
4.5 Incoming Material Inspection Identification¶
- Incoming inspection status shall be indicated with labels or tags.
- Inspectors must promptly inform warehouse keepers of inspection results to ensure the correct identification of inspection status.
- Nonconforming products must be clearly identified and segregated from conforming products.
4.6 In-Process Product Inspection Identification¶
The production workshop uses tags, labels, and records to indicate the inspection status of in-process products.
4.7 Final Product Inspection Identification¶
- Inspectors identify the inspection status of final products using tags and labels.
- Final products that have passed inspection shall bear the inspector's signature.
4.8 Maintenance and Management of Product Identification¶
- Each department related to the product is responsible for maintaining product identification. Every employee must protect identification labels. If any label is damaged, lost, or needs to be modified, the shift leader and inspectors shall trace the issue and reapply proper identification through the responsible department.
- If inspection status identification is damaged or missing, it must be reported immediately to the inspector, who will re-inspect the product and reapply the label.
- All tags, labels, records, and seals indicating inspection status shall be managed by designated personnel. Mixing, misusing, or unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.
4.9 Equipment and Facility Identification¶
- All equipment and instruments shall have nameplates and company equipment numbers. Equipment identification must match the contents recorded in the equipment management ledger.
- Measuring equipment shall have both equipment identification and calibration labels.
- Electrical equipment, power outlets, and switches must be clearly marked with warning labels during malfunction or maintenance.
4.10 Product Traceability¶

Production records must indicate the product batch number (or shift number), which serves as the only identifier ensuring traceability. It must be accurately recorded and unique.

Traceability shall meet the following requirements:

| c) Production equipment | The relevant production equipment can be traced |
| d) Raw material information | The relevant information about the raw materials used, including manufacturer and batch number, can be traced |
- Retention period for traceability records: at least three years.
